Obituary from Rochelle (Illinois) News-Leader, Feb. 10, 2006: G. Clarice DeStories, 89, of DeKalb, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Bethany Health Care & Rehab Center in DeKalb. She was born on May 1, 1916, in northwest Ogle County, the daughter of Gitle and Celia (Vesta) Gittleson. She married George DeStories on May 1, 1938, in the same church that she was baptized and confirmed in, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Creston. Clarice was a graduate of Rochelle High School. She is survived by her son, Ronald (Rebecca) DeStories, of Arkansas; a grandson, Chad (Mindi) DeStories; a granddaughter, Faith DeStories; a sister, Marie McKenzie, of Sycamore; a brother-in-law, Francis Youssi, of Batavia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son, Georgie; her parents; three sisters, Verna Horn, Dorothy Tindall, and Frances Youssi; and three brothers-in-law, Earl Horn, Donald McKenzie, and George Tindall. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. John's Lutheran Church in Creston. Cremation has taken place at the Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., Crematory in DeKalb.
