Husband Maurice LEAHY
Born
Baptised(April 1, 1831)?(assuming that Maurice was born in the Parish of Killeagh, there are four likely baptisms in that parish, in the years, 1831 (parents Michael Leahy and Catherine Connelly), 1835 (parents Peter Leahy and Ellen Colbert), 1836 (parents Thomas Leahy and Bridget Kurray) and 1837 (parents John Leahy and Mary Cashman))[NOTE: if the death record of 1878 is correct, having died at age 40, he should have been born about 1837, so parents and dates are very uncertain]
MarriedFebruary 7, 1863Parish of Killeagh, Cork (The RC marriage record does not list the parents. The witnesses are, Patrick Connell [what relation to Bridget?] and Patrick Murry. See record)
Died(March 7, 1878)?(probable death record: Date of Death: 07 Mar 1878, Place of Death: Cappoquin, Name: Leahy, Maurice, Sex: M, Age at Death: 40, Rank: Shoemaker, Condition: Married, Cause of Death: Intermittent Fever, Duration of Illness: Some Days, Informant: Leahy, Michael, Qualification: Present at Death, Residence: Mill Street, Signature of Registrar: Redmond, Gabriel, District: Cappoquin, Union: Lismore. See record)(Another possible civ reg deaths index: Maurice Lee Estimated Birth Year: abt 1836, Date of Registration: Apr-Jun 1891, Death Age: 55, Registration district: Youghal, v.4, p.646)
Father(Michael LEAHY)?Uncertain if Michael and Catherine are the correct parents of Maurice, but note that they were married January 25, 1823 in Killeigh Parish, none of their parents were listed on the church record, however the witnesses were Daniel Connelly and Timothy Leahy who are presumably the fathers of each. Note that Michael Leahy was present at the death of Maurice Leahy who died in 1878.
Mother(Catherine CONNELLY)?The only likely Catherine with father Daniel listed in rootsireland.ie is Name: Catherine Connolly, Date of Baptism: 07-Feb-1804, Address: Cloyne, Parish/District: CLOYNE, Co. Cork, Gender: Female, Denomination: Roman Catholic, Father: Daniel Connolly, Mother: Catherine Murphy, Informant 1: Henry Bellamy, Informant 2: Catherine Kenna.[Note also that a Margaret Connolley was present at the birth of Patrick in 1868 (possibly Catherine's sister or sister-in-law) possibly confirming a Connolley connection to Maurice.]
Notes If the death record from 1878 is correct, then who is the Michael Leahy who was present at Maurice's death? His father or his brother? [rootsireland.ie lists three Maurice Leahy's (born in 1808,1831,1846 within the county of Cork) with a father Michael, and none in Waterford. One of these (1831) is for a Maurice born in Killeigh Parish. The baptismal record transcript on rootsireland.ie give: Name: Maurice Leahy, Date of Baptism: 01-Apr-1831, Parish/District: KILLEAGH, Gender: Male, County: Co. Cork, Denomination: Roman Catholic, Father: Michael Leahy, Mother: Catherine Connelly, Informant 1: James Lee, Informant 2: Mary Heffernan.
Alternatively, if Michael was Maurice's brother, and if he was born in Killeigh Parish, then there are two Michaels born in the period 1826-46 in 1839 and in 1844--however, none of these two Michaels have a father with the same name as any of the Maurice fathers in rootsireland.ie so Michael is less likely to be Maurice's brother.]
George Donoghue said that the Leahy's were supposed to have come from Barradaw (which is 10 miles west of Youghal) see map but that is unconfirmed.
If the Leahy's were from Barradaw then the most likely entries for Leahy in Griffith's Valuation of Tenements 1853 is
John Leahy (Barradaw, Dangandonovan, Cork)
and Michael Leahy and Daniel Leahy who had adjoining property in Ballyre (approx 3 miles E of Barradaw), Dangandonovan, Cork
An interesting cross-connection from one family to another is that at James Doyle's baptism in 1844 one of the sponsors was Mary Leahy (would she have been related to Margaret Leahy?)
Wife Bridget CONNELL
Born1840?Co. Cork (age estimate from 1901 Census)
Baptised
Died(December 29, 1903)?Bridget probably died 1901-1911 as she was living with her son Maurice in 1901 and was no longer in 1911. (Probable Civ Reg Death record: Date of Death: 29 Dec 1903, Place of Death: Goosh, Name: Leahy, Bridget, Sex: F, Age at Death: 65 Years, Rank: Widow of a Labourer, Condition: Widow, Cause of Death: Probably Bronchitis, Duration of Illness: 1 Month, Informant: Leahy, Mary, Qualification: Daughter Present at Death, Residence: Goosh, Signature of Registrar: Morrissey, P. F., District: Whitechurch, Union: Dungarvan, Notes: No Medical Attention. See record)
FatherPatrick Connell was a witness at Bridget's marriage in 1863 and he may have been her father. rootsireland.ie lists four Bridgets born (1836,1842,1844,1845) in north/east Cork with father Patrick (The record for 1845 in Macroom shows a mother Margaret which might have been her mother's name). However, if her father is not Patrick, and she was born in Killeigh Parish, there is one Bridget Connell born 1837 in Killeigh whose father was Joseph.

Died
Notes Uncertain if it's the same person but there is a Johanna Leahy who emigrated to the U.S., departing Queenstown and arriving in New York on April 10, 1893 aboard S.S. Germanic. She listed herself as age 21, a servant, born in Cork, with an intended destination of New York.
The New York marriage indexes show two marriages for a Johanna Leahy. One to Peter Roach on April 30, 1899 in Manhattan, and another to Joseph Flynn on September 11, 1901 in Manhattan.

See record))
Died
Notes Just a possibility, but a number of Mary Leahy's emigrated to either Boston or N.Y. However, assuming the death record for Mary's mother, given above, is correct, then Mary was with her mother at her mother's death in Waterford County in 1903.
