Witnesses: Maurice Sullivan and Mary Catherine O'Neill The 1901 Irish Census shows George and Elizabeth living at Grand Parade, Cork City with their infant daughter Eugenie. George is a tailor age 25, Elizabeth is a housekeeper age 22, they are both listed as being born in Co. Cork. Their daughter is 10 months old and born in Cork City. The family arrived in the U.S. on the Celtic, Oct 24, 1904. George is listed as a Tailor, age 29. His wife "Lizzie" as age 24, Eugenie (3), Evelyn (2) and George (10 months). The Ellis Island record says that they were going to George's brother-in-law at 10 Sedwick St., Chicago. In 1910 the family was living in St. Louis, Missouri. The 1910 U.S. Census (see record) gives his age as 36, they were married 10 years, and he and his wife Elizabeth emigrated to the U.S. in 1894 (a mistake as passenger records show them emigrating in 1904). His father is given as being from Portugal and his mother from Ireland. The January 1, 1920 U.S. Census (see record) lists the family (living in Chicago) as George E Destories 43, a tailor Elizabeth Destories 38 Eugenie Destories 19, a telephone company operator Evlyn Destories 17, a telephone company operator George jr. The U.S. 1910 Census gives her age as 29. Elizabeth's mother, Jane, came to visit the family in Chicago in 1907. She traveled on the Ivernia, arriving at Boston on October 10, 1907. She gives her age on the passenger records as 51 and she was born in Dublin though her birth record says that she was born in Cork (her father's birth place is given in the birth record as "Cross Lane" [Youghal]).
